INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION “Aldo Morelato Foundation”
FOR APPLIED ART IN THE FURNITURE FIELD
The “significant” furniture 2009
Resting places
Pieces of furniture for home spaces
The theme for this year’s edition invites participants to design objects which consider new conduct models linked to the routine of resting in home spaces.
Resting in the meaning of: recovering energy, relaxing, restoring after a hard day’s work, a night of sleep, siesta, etc…is an activity as well! As a human activity it has been enriched over the years with equipment and specific places to rest as well as possible.
The new working dynamics and the new trends in urban life have been changing our domestic routines involving the resting places as well.
The re-discovery of applied art can help the designer to give to a space and to specific objects an added value which allows us to define them as “significant objects”. Thus the theme invites designers to develop a project for a home space and more specifically for an object which refers to resting places.
