Reasons Why

The Aldo Morelato Foundation was founded by the Aldo Morelato’s sons, who, as directing members of the Morelato company, have developed a passion for the production of furniture, continuing an important Italian tradition.
The Aldo Morelato Foundation has its offices at Villa Dionisi, a mansion from the 18th century, situated in the centre of the Verona plain (above, in the picture). This Villa Veneta has been brought back to its original splendour thanks to an important conservative restoration by the Morelato family.
The Villa is also the headquarter of the Outlook on applied arts in furniture, a research centre aimed at enhancing style furniture, which was born out of the necessity to enhance and spread the cultural and productive heritage of Italian furniture and in particular furniture from the Verona area.

Aldo Morelato Foundation represents for Morelato Company an important project, a high value investment in culture and research, which is supported by two ranges of reasons.

The first one belongs to Morelato family, who conceives the Foundation as a tribute to the company founder.
It is based on the axiom “Enterprise means Culture”. Every enterprise embodies a cultural model of thought and production activities, research and technologies.
This model is then put in concrete form through documents, contributions and products that make the company story unique, distinguishing it from any other one.
This is the reason why Morelato company do not want to loose their own historical model and production philosophy, mainly inherited from its founder, but to increase the value, to spread and study them in depth.

The second one belongs to Morelato company philosophy, to their own company personality.
Their philosophy is based on the idea that culture and economic development are not only compatible concepts, but they are also able to create a synergic relationship to enlarge the company competitiveness.
This very clear belief becomes even more important in the present time where, to contrast the effects of globalization, their own ties with the region should be studied in depth through the revaluation of their own history and cultural identity.
The social implications of this philosophy are properly expressed in a concept promoted by the European Council (Treaty of Berlin, 1984): there is no development without cultural growth.
According with the principle of “cultural development” or “cultural aims of development”, culture is the purpose, not an aspect, of development; it means that the final object of development is to allow citizens to live at the highest level of cultural quality.
Morelato company undertakes this, accepting in this way not only a market role, but also a social position, partecipating in the social and cultural growth of the region and of its community.
